NanaWall for Canada: Made in Germany, Not Subject to the New Counter-Tariffs

NanaWall glass walls for Canada are made in Germany, so Canada's 2026 counter-tariffs on U.S. goods don't apply.

Since September 8, 2026, Canada has applied counter-tariffs of up to 50% on a range of U.S.-origin goods. Several building products are on the list, including aluminum doors and windows at 50%.

The question I'm hearing from architects, designers and glazing contractors: does this affect NanaWall?

It doesn't. NanaWall is a U.S. company, but the NanaWall systems supplied to Canada are manufactured in Germany. The surtax is based on where a product is made, not where the company has its head office. German-made NanaWall systems are not U.S.-origin goods, so these counter-tariffs don't apply to them.

For your project, that means the new surtax doesn't add to the cost of a NanaWall folding, sliding or pocketing glass wall.

Glass Canada has a good summary of the counter-tariffs as they affect windows, doors and hardware: FenCan analysis of Canadian counter-tariffs

If you have a project where this matters, please give me a call at (416) 388-1445, or come see the systems in person at our Liberty Village showroom in Toronto.
